Self-Improvement: 10 Daily Habits to Practice All Year Long

September is all about new beginnings. It’s a new season and many people begin new routines that will carry them through the rest of the year. Plus, September has been officially designated as Self-Improvement Month.

We can’t think of a better time to start anew and better yourself! It’s time to think of every day as an opportunity to take simple steps that will help you look, feel and live better.

Look at autumn as a time to improve yourself, set new goals, and eliminate the negative things in your life that are holding you back. What can you do to improve yourself physically, spiritually, and mentally? Self-improvement could be any set of steps or actions (minor or major) that you take with an aim of making yourself better than you were before.

To get you started, we’ve gathered this list of daily habits that you can use to build a happier and healthier you this season, and all year long.

  • Meditate
  • Write down positive affirmations and repeat them every day
  • Spend time in nature
  • Practice gratitude
  • Be kind to yourself and others
  • Phone-free time/ focus on more face-to-face interaction
  • Yoga/ Stretching/ Move your body
  • Eat whole foods
  • Drink at least 2 liters of water every day
  • Get 8 hours of sleep

Take a moment and think about 1-3 things that you could do to become a better you. As you think about the various ways you could improve yourself, consider different areas of your life, what you feel isn’t currently working for you, and where you’d like to be by the end of this year.

Even small steps can add up to huge results over time. It all starts now! Take the time you need to reflect, define new goals and surround yourself with the people and resources you need to succeed. Another important thing to remember is that self-improvement spans beyond yourself. Give back what you hope to get out of the world!
